Created to commission in 2011, this cast and constructed, depletion gilt 14kt gold brooch features a Round Cut Blue Sapphire and a cast, Titanium Dioxide opacified acrylic form.

A series of models were developed through a material exploration of liquid porcelain slip while on an artist's residency in China. My intent was to retain some sense of the material's fresh nature as seen in the making process. The succesful model was later moulded in silicone, an acrylic form created, and the brooch assembled.
